SOTAMĀT, pronounced as "sota-mate," caters to licensed amateur radio operators looking to self-spot from remote areas without cellular service, internet, or access to a satellite communicator. The functionality of the app involves encoding your commands into a specialized message modulated through your iPhone or iPad for transmission over HF using a built-in FT8 encoder, PSK31, or RTTY. Monitoring stations worldwide (skimmers) detect your HF transmission and relay it to PSK Reporter, then onward to the SOTAMĀT server for processing. Subsequently, SOTAMĀT interfaces with official SOTA, POTA, or SMS services to execute your directives.

An exceptional feature is that you can operate without a computer (utilize your iPhone/iPad) or special cables (connect your phone's speaker directly into your HF radio's microphone input). The app not only computes the FT8 message but also generates the FT8 audio.
