K-Search for Children: A Comprehensive Review

The K-Search service is an innovative tool aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of children by allowing guardians to easily and conveniently monitor their children's locations.

Key Features:

1. For Children:
   • Route Tracking: Children can report their current location back to their guardians and request assistance in emergencies through the smartphone application.
   • Location History: Access to a 72-hour location history of the child.
   • Guardian Management: Ability to view and manage registered guardians.
   • Child Management: Option to change the managed child if there is more than one.
   • Safe Zones: Guardians receive alerts when the child enters or exits pre-registered safe zones.
   • Safe Return Settings: Guardians can modify settings related to the child’s safe return.
   • Emergency Video: Capability to record video during an emergency call initiated by the child during their safe return.
   • Additional Functions: Offers features like personal information settings and information review.
2. For Guardians:
   • Route Tracking: Guardians can track and change settings related to their child's movements via the smartphone application.
   • Find Child's Location: Instant access to the child's current location.
   • Location History: Review of the child's 72-hour location tracking history.
   • Guardian Management: Options to add or remove guardians.
   • Safe Return Notifications: Notifications related to the child's movements and emergencies.
   • Emergency Call Functionality: Allows children to send distress signals during emergencies, using either a button or a dedicated device.
   • Emergency Video Recording: Simultaneous video recording and storage during emergency calls during safe return situations.
   • Additional Functions: Includes personal information settings and information review features.

Service Subscription and Fees:

• The service can be subscribed to via the 114 customer center, authorized dealers, OLE.com site, and mobile OLE platforms.
• The child must be a KT customer for service registration, while guardians can register regardless of their mobile carrier.
• The monthly fee is 3,000 KRW (3,300 KRW including VAT).
• The service is free when subscribing to specific KT plans (iLove, Mom & Kids, OLE School Objective, Welfare 15000 plan).

K-Search App Permissions and Justifications:

1. Essential Permissions:
   • Location Access: Utilizes GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell triangulation to ascertain the child’s current position.
   • Phone Access: Required for generating unique user keys and identifying users, as well as receiving push notifications.
   • Contacts Access: Necessary when adding guardians from the user's contact list.
   • Storage Access: For saving emergency call videos and user-defined settings within device folders.
2. Optional Permissions:
   • Microphone Access: For audio recording during emergency video calls.
   • Camera Access: For capturing video during emergency calls.

   * Opting for optional permissions is not mandatory for service usage. The K-Search app has been designed for Android version 6.0 and above, allowing individual consent for optional permissions. If using an Android version below 6.0, please verify with your device manufacturer regarding operating system upgrades. It’s crucial to note that existing agreed permissions will not automatically update following an upgrade; users must manually reset permissions through device setting menus if necessary.
