Jean-Frédéric Osterwald (or Ostervald) (November 25, 1663 to April 16, 1747) was a Swiss Protestant pastor born in Neuchâtel in 1663 into a patrician family, the son of Reformed pastor Johann Rudolf Ostervald. He studied in Zurich and Saumur (where he obtained), studied theology in Orleans under Claude Pajon, in Paris under Jean Claude, and in Geneva under Louis Tronchin, and was ordained to the ministry in his hometown in 1683.

The Ostervald French Bible revision has long been known and highly regarded in Great Britain.
