The Christian Bible is composed of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek writings that have been taken from the Greek Bible known as the Septuagint and the Hebrew-Aramaic Tanakh, and then grouped together under the name of the Old Testament. A third series of Greek Christian writings, grouped together as the New Testament, has also been added. Different Christian groups have debated extensively about the inclusion or exclusion of certain books from both testaments, leading to the concepts of Apocrypha and Deuterocanonicals to refer to some of these texts.

The current Jewish community reserves the expression "Christian Bible" to refer only to the books that have been added to the Hebrew-Aramaic Tanakh by late Hellenistic Alexandrian Judaism, and later by Christianity, and avoids referring to their Tanakh as the Bible or Old Testament. Several Christian denominations incorporate other books into the canon of both Testaments.

The Bible (from Latin "biblia", and from Greek "biblia", meaning 'books') is the collection of canonical books from Judaism and Christianity. The canonicity of each book varies depending on the adopted tradition. According to Jewish and Christian religions, it transmits the word of God. Up until 2008, it has been translated into 2454 languages.

Christianity (from Greek "Christós", Christ; literally 'Anointed') is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings attributed to Jesus of Nazareth, presented in the biblical canon and other writings of the New Testament. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, as well as the Messiah (or Christ) prophesied in the Old Testament, who died for the redemption of human sins and rose from the dead three days after his death.

Some of the sacred Christian writings are shared with Judaism. The Tanakh, along with the older-than-current-form Septuagint Bible, serves as the basis and source for the Old Testament of different Christian Bibles. For this reason, Christianity is considered an Abrahamic religion, along with Judaism and Islam.
