The program "Self-Learning English" is not specifically tailored for experts in any particular field. Instead, it serves as a general educational tool, making it suitable for upper secondary school students, university students, and professionals from various trades. It is noteworthy that this program is offered as a "self-learning" resource for Tajik readers in their native language for the first time. Therefore, we respectfully encourage users to share any shortcomings they may observe in the program so that improvements can be made in future versions.

Firstly, it is important to note that engaging with "Self-Learning" requires understanding your responsibility as a learner; you will be studying independently without the assistance of a teacher. This necessitates diligence, focus, and serious effort on your part.

The program comprises 20 lessons. The first six lessons are dedicated to phonetics, where you will become acquainted with phonetic transcription symbols and the reading rules for each letter of the English alphabet in various contexts. Alongside the reading rules, exceptions—instances where these rules do not apply—are also addressed. A thorough understanding of the initial six phonetic lessons should equip you with a solid foundation for reading, writing, and pronouncing English words correctly. Numerous examples accompany each reading rule, and phonetic exercises at the end of these lessons will reinforce your knowledge.

It is worth recalling that we have explained all phonetic transcription sounds in the first lesson, which allows you to resolve any difficulties while working with different materials and dictionaries. For ease of reference within this program, we have also employed Tajik alphabet letters when illustrating words during the phonetic lessons. It is essential to clarify certain points here: the combination of letters "th" corresponds to the sounds "z" and "s," which should be pronounced differently from their equivalents in Tajik. The pronunciation requires placing the tongue between the upper and lower teeth. Additionally, after vowel sounds, colons ":" are used to indicate that the preceding sound should be lengthened.

Starting from the seventh lesson, the focus shifts to grammar topics. In these lessons, you will explore various types of phrases and sentences in English using different speech components. Affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences will be explained through diverse examples. These lessons also provide texts, dialogues, and grammar exercises related to each grammatical theme introduced. Each grammatical subject will be explained first; subsequently, it will be reinforced through texts and dialogues. The homework assigned for each lesson primarily encompasses the grammatical themes discussed therein. At the conclusion of the grammar lessons, new vocabulary and phrases along with their translations will be provided.

The program contains over 1600 English words and phrases. As you engage with "Self-Learning," it is imperative that you seriously study each grammatical topic discussed in class, translate texts and materials from the "Do you know?" section, practice dialogues, complete assigned exercises thoroughly, and memorize all new words and phrases introduced in each lesson.
