Free viewer ideal for hiking, cycling, running, or skiing, which uses background cartography services from the National Geographic Institute and a set of services from other Ministries, such as cadastral information about parcels provided by the General Directorate of Cadastre.

With this application, you can explore routes in National Parks or stages of the Camino de Santiago, or use your TRACKS/ROUTES, plan excursions using maps, navigation, and guided tours without needing an internet connection. All maps and routes used are free and allow you to:

• GPS location, even without mobile coverage
• Offline map mode*: save them in advance
• Draw routes (Tracks) with GPS on National Geographic Institute maps
• Save and view tracks in gpx, kml, and kmz formats
• Supports WMS and WMTS map services from IGN; you can use the application as a WMS viewer
• Use CartoCiudad project services for location purposes
• Display positioning through coordinates, bearing, speed, altitude. Distance calculation
• The application is available in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, and English languages
• Based on OruxMaps software

Maps of Spain is used as a GIS tool, stemming from a Spanish governmental department and is utilized by various professionals, including Spanish State workers (police officers, forest rangers, firefighters...). It is common to have the catalog of Spain's maps in internal storage. For instance, databases in mbtiles format:

It is not possible to move all that information to each app's private storage that wants to use such data (we are talking about dozens or hundreds of gigabytes). And from public storage using Android's file access system does not allow direct and random access to files required by the app to access databases or binary map formats. Without this permission, both professional users and non-professionals who frequently use the app as a GIS tool will not be able to continue using the app according to their needs.
