All praise is due to Allah. We seek His help, ask for His forgiveness, and request guidance. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves and our misdeeds. Whomever Allah guides, there is no misguide for him; and whomever He leads astray, there is no guide for him. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, alone with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O Allah, there is nothing easy except what You make easy, and You can make hardship easy if You wish. Make our affairs easy for us and teach us what is beneficial, and benefit us through what You have taught us.

Moving on: Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, was a scholar and a balanced imam with vast knowledge, eloquence, piety, and asceticism. As you will read in the following introduction, his approach also includes a captivating style that resonates deeply with readers. His works are rich with gems of wisdom and benefits, making it feel as though he provides solutions to problems and remedies for ailments — hence he was referred to as the "Doctor of Hearts." We have gathered what we could of the remarkable insights and benefits of Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah strictly through narration without any alteration.

Our objectives in doing so are several:

1. The collected gems are beneficial for individuals because of their conciseness and eloquence while encompassing a wealth of insights. We ask Allah to benefit those who read and act upon them; knowledge has no value without action, as Ibn Qayyim stated in his book "Al-Fawa'id": "If knowledge benefited without action, Allah would not have condemned the scholars of the People of the Book; if action benefited without sincerity, hypocrites would not have been condemned."
2. Such remarkable expressions from the predecessors are among the best foundations that speakers, preachers, and scholars can cite after the words of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). For this reason, we have organized the gathered material into sections to facilitate access to specific topics if they exist.
3. For young people and others engaged in activities on the internet and social media platforms to share these insights — this falls under the category of "guiding towards good is like performing it."
4. Many among us might only know Ibn Qayyim by name or have minimal knowledge about him; some may even confuse him with Imam Ibn al-Jawzi. Therefore, you will find a concise introduction at the beginning of this book detailing his biography, reasons for his name "Ibn Qayyim," his birth, his teachers, students, writings, and more.

We also advise you to prioritize reading his books, which are readily available, and to follow explanations of these texts from our esteemed scholars.

As stated by Imam Ibn Qayyim in the introduction to "Rawdat al-Muhibbin wa-Nuzhat al-Mushtaqin": "These are his wares presented to you; if you find someone worthy who honors it well, you will not lack in holding it with kindness or releasing it graciously. If you do not find such a person, then Allah alone is your advocate." We acknowledge that any success is solely from Allah; what errors or shortcomings exist are from ourselves or the devil.

We beseech Allah to accept this endeavor, benefit from it, make it sincerely for His sake, place it in our scales along with those of our parents, and grant it as ongoing charity for us and our parents as well as everyone who contributed in any form. May He forgive us and our parents and all Muslims — indeed He is capable of this.
