The Chinese-Portuguese-English Machine Translation Laboratory (CPELab) at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has developed an application called Diz lá!, which is specifically designed to aid Chinese speakers in learning Portuguese at their convenience.

The key features of the app include:

Word of the Day: This feature allows users to discover a new Portuguese word each day, tailored for individuals with an intermediate understanding of the language who seek to enhance their vocabulary. Each word is supplemented with its definition, a contextual sentence, an illustrative image, and an audio recording for proper pronunciation. Additionally, users have the option to access translations in simplified or traditional Chinese.
2. Conjugator: This tool is beneficial for learners at all proficiency levels, as well as native speakers. It provides conjugated forms for over 15,000 Portuguese verbs across various tenses and moods. Users can also listen to the pronunciation of the top 400 frequently used verbs, recorded by native speakers.
3. Vocabulary: The application offers access to more than 500 essential Portuguese words organized into thematic categories. Each entry includes a visual representation and an audio recording for accurate pronunciation, with translation options available in both simplified and traditional Chinese.
4. Communication: Users can explore over 1,000 practical phrases and sentences applicable in everyday scenarios. These phrases are categorized by theme, and users can hear them pronounced by native speakers of Portuguese. Comparison with Chinese translations is also facilitated.
5. Video: The application features a selection of culturally enriching videos produced by MPU's language specialists. These videos provide insights into Portuguese-speaking countries, highlighting unique aspects of the language and its speakers, while also showcasing poetry and cultural traditions from these nations.
