Mobile IDs such as mobile ID, mobile driver's license, mobile national service registration card, and mobile overseas nationality verification card are legal IDs issued on personal smartphones with the same legal effect as current IDs.

Mobile IDs like mobile ID, mobile driver's license, mobile national service registration card, and mobile overseas nationality verification card are government-issued IDs on personal smartphones with the same legal standing as traditional IDs for your convenience. Mobile driver's licenses can be securely stored on personal smartphones in an encrypted form and are legal identification cards issued directly by the Police Agency.

Personal mobile phones under corporation names, anonymous prepaid phones, and specific BlackBerry models are currently not supported.

Bringing your physical driver's license and a smartphone with the mobile ID app installed allows you to swiftly receive your driver's license at the examination center. You can also apply for an IC driver's license online through the police station counter or the Road Traffic Authority's safe driving integrated customer service website.

 <li>Method 1: Exchange your physical driver's license for an IC driver's license to issue a mobile ID directly through identification (tagging) on your smartphone</li>
 <li>Method 2: Receive a mobile driver's license from the control authority on-site through QR issuance without exchanging your physical license</li>
 </ul>
 </li>
</ul>

<ul>
 <li>The mobile driver's license is a legally valid identity card requiring at least one in-person identification process by the issuing organization.</li>
 <li>If issuing an IC driver's license by exchanging it with a physical one, you won't need to revisit for reissuing the mobile ID when changing phones.</li>
 <li>An IC driver's license is available for same-day pickup at driving exam centers and may take about 15 days when applied at police stations.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
 <li>For online applications of IC driver’s licenses, choose a date for collection at least 15 days after the application date (excluding holidays).</li>
</ul>

Refer to the Road Traffic Authority’s integrated customer service website (www.safedriving.or.kr) for detailed information regarding IC driver’s license issuance.

<ul>Tag Method for IC Driver’s License:</ul>
<li>Separate your smartphone case and place the IC driver’s license on a flat surface while maintaining contact for 3-4 seconds. Check NFC settings in 'General Mode', as contact locations vary per phone model.</li>
<li>To avoid possible recognition conflicts due to dual usage with transport cards, please don't overlap them.</li>

<ul>Facial Recognition Method:</ul>
<li>Clean the front camera of your smartphone. Position yourself about 40-50cm away in a well-lit area. Face straight ahead with both eyes towards your phone. Follow prompts such as blinking or turning your head left or right according to instructions.
