According to the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language," starting from July 16, 2021, an exam for obtaining a certificate of proficiency in the state (Ukrainian) language is being launched. The purpose of the exam is to determine the level of proficiency in the state language of individuals applying for election or appointment to positions specified by articles 1 and 2 of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language," including:

• Members of local councils, officials of local self-government bodies;
• Civil servants;
• Officer personnel serving under a contract;
• Managerial (middle and senior) staff of the National Police, other law enforcement and intelligence agencies;
• Enlisted, non-commissioned, and senior staff of the National Police, other law enforcement, intelligence agencies;
• Prosecutors;
• Judges;
• Lawyers;
• Notaries;
• Heads of educational institutions of all forms of ownership;
• Educators, academic and teaching staff;
• Healthcare workers in state and municipal healthcare institutions.

The exam for proficiency in the state language consists of three parts: "Language Culture," "Reading," and "Speaking."

The questions in the "Language Culture" section allow individuals to demonstrate their ability to adhere to norms across all language levels, exhibit lexical and derivational prowess (understand the expressive potential of synonyms, antonyms; use homonyms and paronyms accurately; avoid colloquialisms, jargon, redundancy; correctly apply derivational means to form names of individuals by profession, position, place of residence); familiarity with business phraseology (office jargon, clichés, linguistic clichés); ability to correctly apply expressive capabilities of grammatical forms in official-business style; stylistic proficiency (established forms for structuring oral and written text; forms of interpersonal communication).

The tasks in the "Reading" section aim to test an individual's ability to fully comprehend a text, critically analyze it, identify main or specific information, understand details of the text, and establish connections between its parts.

The "Speaking" part entails a monologue on a given topic where individuals can demonstrate their ability to initiate, maintain, and conclude a conversation while expressing their own opinion on the proposed topic during communication.

With the help of the offered educational application containing a list of test questions with answer choices, you have the opportunity to take trial tests an unlimited number of times, significantly facilitating and expediting preparation.

During the trial testing, the application automatically selects 30 random tasks (47 points) for fulfilling official duties.

The educational application is developed based on the program and sample test questions provided by the National Commission for Standards of the State Language published on January 11, 2024, as well as tasks from other open sources. Test questions are supplemented with author explanations regarding norms and rules of the Ukrainian language.

Characteristics and features of the application:

• Random and proportional formation of trial tests;
• Testing on selected sections: consecutively, randomly, or by difficulty (determined by statistics on test completion by all application users);
• Error correction work (testing on questions where mistakes were made);
• Ability to add questions to "favorites" and take a separate test on them;
• Convenient search and review answers without completing testing;
• Detailed justification of correct answers;
• Listening to questions and answers through speech synthesis;
• The application does not require an Internet connection - works offline;
