Research indicates that phonemic awareness is a crucial factor in predicting success in learning to read (Stanovich, 1986, 1993, Share & Stanovich, 1995).

PHONEMIC AWARENESS BUBBLES aims to assist in cultivating fundamental reading skills for your child. Through engaging gameplay, this app helps in developing your child's ability to listen and discern initial word sounds. By practicing and mastering the activities within this application, your child can establish neural pathways in their brain related to sound recognition. When your child encounters printed letters, they will already be familiar with the primary sound produced by each letter, making alphabet learning more manageable compared to receiving no phonemic instruction.

This app focuses on aiding children in developing pre-writing phonemic awareness skills, an often overlooked or neglected ability that can significantly benefit early literacy reading skills. Many children do not receive the necessary explicit instruction on the SOUNDS that letters make. In this app, only the SOUNDS of the letters are utilized and NEVER the letters or letter names. It is dedicated to helping children learn the sounds and function of letters.

• There are two games where children match images that start with the same sound.
• Another game involves children eliminating the image with the initial sound that does not match the others.
• In the final game, children analyze two images to determine if they begin with the same sound.

There are six mini-games that appear randomly after reaching 20 points on the counter within the app.
