Review of MyAAC 2.0 Upgrade

The general version of MyAAC has been upgraded to 2.0, showcasing a range of new features designed to enhance user experience.

The NCSOFT Cultural Foundation has committed to ongoing research into suitable communication support software for the Korean language, resulting in the development and free distribution of the intuitive touch-based software, 'My AAC.' This software is tailored for individuals with communication disabilities.

'My AAC' offers various app versions—basic, children's, and general—considering factors such as disability type, age, and user environment. The PC version is available for free download at the MyAAC comprehensive information site (http://www.myaac.co.kr/).

What is AAC? Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) provides individuals with speech and language impairments opportunities for communication by enhancing or replacing traditional methods through various tools.

Main Features of MyAAC 2.0 General Version

This version targets adults with complex communication needs as well as individuals communicating through AAC. It categorizes symbols across various life settings (school, home, hospital, community) and hierarchical themes (food, animals, numbers, time, shapes) featuring over 1,000 symbols:

1. Speaking through communication boards: Users can express themselves using recommended or customized communication boards. A basic 4x4 board is included; options for 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4 boards are available.
2. Cloud retrieval/saving: Users can load or save communication boards created on PC or mobile devices to the cloud.
3. Symbol-based speaking: Communication is facilitated using around 950 symbols based on local AAC vocabulary research and commonly used key terms reflecting user needs. Predictive text features are also supported.
4. Text-to-speech (TTS): Allows users to input longer messages that may be difficult to express through symbols, which can then be vocalized using TTS.
5. Story creation: Users can create narratives reflecting their interests or intended messages over time.
