The Bible. Synodal Translation.

The Bible (Greek βιβλία, plural form of βιβλίον, meaning "book"; Greek βύβλος, meaning "papyrus", produced in the city of Biblos) is a collection of texts considered sacred in Judaism and Christianity.

Synodal Translation is an established term that refers to the translation of the Holy Scriptures into the Russian language, carried out during the 19th century and approved by the Holy Governing Synod for home (non-liturgical) reading. The translation of the books of the Old Testament was done from Hebrew (Masoretic text) with some consideration of the Church Slavonic text which traces back to the translation of the seventy scholars. The translation of the New Testament was done from the Greek original.
