“Contemporary Chinese General Standard Character Dictionary” draws upon the 8,105 characters listed in the “Standard List of Standard Characters” and supplements this with over 2,500 characters that hold practical significance. Entries include corresponding traditional and variant forms as per the standard list, with clear indication of their classification levels. The phonetic pronunciation follows the Mandarin phonetic system using Pinyin. Variants and disyllabic readings are aligned with the “List of Mandarin Disyllabic Variants for Phonetic Examination.” Each entry specifies stroke count and radical, adopting the 201 radicals defined by the National Language Commission’s “Standard for Chinese Character Radicals” and classified according to GB13000.1 character set standards. Meanings are arranged in logical order based on semantic development.
