The Palace Museum

Established in 1925, The Palace Museum is a comprehensive national museum primarily showcasing the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties (Forbidden City) and artifacts from the imperial collections. It houses the world's largest and most complete collection of wooden-structure palace buildings, along with treasures left from the Ming and Qing periods. Over time, through national allocations, public solicitations, and private donations, the museum's collection has grown significantly to include a diverse range of cultural relics such as ancient paintings, artworks, court treasures, and literary archives, totaling over 1.86 million invaluable items. In 1961, The Palace Museum was designated as one of China's first key cultural heritage sites by the State Council. In 1987, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
