Hello, I have created the 7 Minute Yoga app specifically for those who would like to try practicing yoga or maintain their fitness but have limited time.
Why specifically 7 minutes of yoga (not 30, 20, 15, 10 or 5 minutes)?
Based on my experience, there is no optimal amount of time in a day to practice yoga. What matters is not so much the quantity of time but rather the regularity of your practice and the quality of your exercises (your "presence" on the mat). It is better to spend a few minutes each day practicing than to exhaust yourself with a one and a half hour workout only once a week, once a month, or to abandon it altogether.
But why specifically 7 minutes?
The 7-minute approach in this app is based on the high-intensity interval training (HIIT) approach.
HIIT is when you perform several exercises targeting different muscles in the body within a very short period of time with brief rest periods between exercises. The effectiveness of 7-minute HIIT workouts has been researched and described in one of the most authoritative publications on health and sports - the Journal of Health and Sport Sciences of the American College of Sports Medicine.
What were the results of the research?
It has been proven that short 7-minute high-intensity exercises boost metabolism, contribute to weight loss, and can add several years to your life. Another study conducted in 2010 showed that short workouts, rather than long ones, are more effective in improving mood and reducing stress.
The 7 Minute Yoga app is based precisely on these principles:
- I have selected the most effective exercises and poses (asanas) from yoga for different parts and muscles of the body.
- There are a total of 12 such exercises and poses in each complex. Each exercise is performed for 30 seconds with a 10-second rest in between.
- The poses are chosen for beginners but will also be effective for those who are already familiar with yoga and have been practicing it for a long time.
One of the goals of the app was to give you something that you can do every day and develop a habit of practicing. To motivate you, each day of practice earns you a badge of a certain color. If you miss a day, you start again with a badge of a different color. Earning 7 badges will unlock the next complex for free. This way, I hope you will develop a habit of getting on the mat every day.

In addition, to motivate you, each session will end with a quote from a famous yoga master. I hope that these quotes will serve as an additional motivation for you. Here are a few examples:
