Vladimir Grigorievich Suteev is a Honored Artist of the RSFSR. One of the pioneers of Soviet animation. Children's writer, artist-illustrator, and director-animator.

Vladimir Suteev wrote many tales that are lively, witty, simple, and accessible to the youngest readers. Almost every sentence is accompanied by a bright illustration, into which Suteev brought much from animation: his dynamic drawings resemble frames from cartoons; characters have graphic individuality expressed in their appearance, movements, and facial expressions. His books always have a lot of humor that helps explain simple truths to children without moralizing.

Since 1947, he worked at Detgiz. He illustrated many children's tales by Soviet writers: Chukovsky, Marshak, Mikhalkov. The first books with illustrations by the artist in Russian were released: D. Rodari's "Adventures of Chipollino" (the Suteev characters in this tale became a model for children's toys), Hungarian writer Agnes Balint's "Gnome Gnomich and Raisin", English writer L. Moore's "Little Raccoon and the One Sitting in the Pond". And in 1952, the first book authored by Suteev, "Two Tales About the Pencil and Paints," was published. Chukovsky welcomed its appearance with a review in the "Literaturnaya Gazeta". The book designed by V.G. Suteev's illustrations are often used to decorate kindergartens, children's medical institutions, canteens, shops, children's corners, etc. They are printed on towels, handkerchiefs, and other goods.
