The series began in August 1985, drawing inspiration from foreign narratives. From its inception, Rakib Hassan was the primary author responsible for creating this renowned series. He authored a total of 160 stories before handing over the continuation to Shamsuddeen Nawab, who is primarily known as a ghostwriter. The stories revolve around three teenage detectives, exploring adventures that captivate young audiences.

It is important to note that "Tin Goyenda" is not entirely an original creation; it bears influences from European and American detective stories. Particularly, the early volumes show strong parallels with Robert Arthur's English series "The Three Investigators." Additionally, some stories draw inspiration from Enid Blyton's "Famous Five." The series has been published under the banner of Shobhon Prakashan, branded as "Three Friends."

A survey conducted by the daily newspaper Prothom Alo revealed that "Tin Goyenda" stands out as the most popular book among children's stories in Bangladesh. Among its characters, Pasha, Robin Milford, and Musa Aman are especially beloved. Out of 450 respondents, 81 individuals (18%) expressed a preference for the series, highlighting its significant impact on young readers.
