China is a country of poetry, where every Chinese person can recite classic lines from the "Book of Songs." During the Tang Dynasty, Chinese poetry reached its peak with exceptional poets like Li Bai, Du Fu, Bai Juyi, Wang Wei, and Meng Haoran whose poetry has been remembered for centuries. In the Song Dynasty, with the flourishing of ci poetry, literary giants emerged such as Su Dongpo, Li Qingzhao, and Xin Qiji, collectively illuminating the ancient Chinese literary sky.
As time progressed to modern times, following the rise of the May Fourth New Culture Movement, Chinese poetry experienced a new peak. Modern vernacular poetry inherited the essence of classical poetry while incorporating excellent elements from Western poetry, giving rise to outstanding poets like Xu Zhimo, Dai Wangshu, and Wen Yiduo. In the 1980s, the emergence of the "Misty Poetry" movement represented by poets like Bei Dao, Shu Ting, Gu Cheng, and Yang Lian brought a fresh breeze to the world of poetry.
Post-reform and opening up, China embraced a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, leading to an increasing love for poetry among the people. Particularly with rapid advancements in internet technology today, poetry has once again soared with the aid of technological wings.
"Poem for U" was born at the right moment.
The inception of "Poem for U" originated from founder Mr. Li Yong's inspiration from the poetic imagery of ancient Chinese literati paintings. This creative idea combined exquisite images with beautiful poetry through internet technology, unintentionally creating a new category in Chinese cultural products.
Since its official launch on August 29, 2014, "Poem for U" has garnered increasing appreciation and love from poets and poetry enthusiasts. Up to now, nearly 30,000 poets have collectively composed over 200,000 poems. The enthusiasm of poets continues unabated with more than 300 original poems created daily. Among them are not only elderly individuals but also young people in their prime who use this platform to express their poetic sentiments and connect with like-minded individuals. To enhance your voice’s impact, we have specially curated beautiful background music for you to choose from based on different themes like romanticism, passion, joy, sweetness, solitude, melancholy, beauty, nostalgia, vigor, inspiration, longing and record (wearing headphones will enhance the experience). After recording your voiceover session successfully completion subscribers can listen and share it widely making your delightful voice alongside beautiful verses spread farther to comfort hearts in need of warmth;</li>
