"Waqayna" is a mobile Moroccan application that allows users' mobile phones to monitor nearby phones that also use the same application and share encrypted and anonymous identification codes across these devices.

For example, if you are in a premium shopping mall and you are near someone using the "Waqayna" application, your mobile phones will exchange encrypted and anonymous identification codes. These codes are stored locally on your mobile phone, and no personal data is exchanged that could be used to identify your identity or location.

In the event that a user of this application confirms being infected with the novel coronavirus causing "COVID-19", the health authorities request them to send a list of locally stored identification codes on their mobile phones to a central information server using the "Data Transfer" feature of the application. This will help identify individuals who were in close proximity to the infected person, and notify them via a text message, enabling timely care to prevent potential complications associated with the disease and reduce transmission.

The application is exclusively used within the territory of Morocco to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will be withdrawn from the Apple Store after the end of the pandemic is announced.

The processing of data embedded in the "Waqayna" application is compliant with the provisions of Moroccan Law No. 09.08 regarding the protection of individuals concerning the processing of personal data.
