Al Qabas for Press, Printing, and Publishing is a Kuwaiti journalistic institution managed by a board of five shareholders. Its first issue was published on February 22, 1972, with Jassim Ahmed Al-Nasaf as the editor-in-chief until 1983. Then, Mohammed Jassim Al-Sagar took over as editor-in-chief from February 1983 to July 4, 1999. Waleed Abdulatif Al-Nasaf has been the editor-in-chief since July 5, 1999, until present.

It was established as an independent Kuwaiti newspaper on February 12, 1972, and engages in various activities that benefit and serve the community, including:

1. Publication and printing of newspapers and magazines
2. Publishing old and modern books
3. Issuing advertising and media bulletins
4. Importing and purchasing necessary equipment and supplies such as printing and imaging machines and paper

Al Qabas has been at the forefront in terms of credibility, accurate news reporting, and independence in expressing its opinions. This has made it the most representative of public opinion in Kuwait and its commitment to Kuwaiti and Arab interests.

Key Milestones in Al Qabas' History:

• In 1972, the first issue of Al Qabas was published.
• In 1985, Al Qabas launched its international edition called Al Qabas International.
• In 1990, it temporarily ceased publication due to the Iraqi military aggression against Kuwait.
• In 1991, Al Qabas resumed publication after the liberation of Kuwait, with the first issue released in June.

Al Qabas publishes specialized sections and supplements, and it has a network of correspondents covering important Arab and international capitals. It also offers a free monthly book to subscribers in line with its enlightening and cultural mission. Additionally, it publishes the Arabic edition of "Le Monde Diplomatique" every month.

Information Center and Studies in Al Qabas:

The center was established in 1976 and initially operated using traditional methods, such as microfilming the pages of Al Qabas for display, reading, and printing. During the 1970s, the Information Center consisted of four main units: library, information, research, and microfilm. With the advent of the 1990s, information technology entered strongly into this field, utilizing computers and modern software for documentation, indexing, electronic indexing, archiving, storage, and retrieval. The Center is electronically linked to the editorial departments. The center regularly contributes by writing research papers, reports, and studies published in the newspaper. The library of Al Qabas contains around 15,000 books and approximately 4 million documents and 2 million photos.
