The NABU app "Vogelwelt" allows users to learn about and identify all regularly occurring bird species in Germany. The NABU Vogelwelt is a free app for bird enthusiasts and anyone who cares about the diversity of our nature.

The fully functional free basic version of the new NABU Vogel app replaces the previous version and includes 80 additional bird species and many new features. Each species has its own identification guide, which is the app's special feature. These guides consist of meticulously taken photos that are almost indistinguishable from the best bird drawings, but with even more detail. The guides display the characteristic plumage of each species, with key features highlighted directly on the images. Additionally, the free basic version already includes distribution maps for all 308 bird species, as well as a search and improved identification function.

You can use the app to create observation lists and export them for personal use or to participate in NABU's "Stunde der Wintervögel" & "Stunde der Gartenvögel" campaigns. These nationwide reporting campaigns in early January and mid-May are open to all nature enthusiasts. By participating, you contribute to monitoring population trends of bird species and help implement necessary conservation measures.

The basic version of the app can be expanded through in-app purchases, which include bird songs, 3D birds, egg photos, and videos showcasing typical bird behavior in their natural environment. The proceeds from these extensions allow the app to be offered for free with its core functionalities. A portion of the in-app purchase proceeds also goes towards supporting the NABU's work in nature conservation, particularly for native bird species.

The free basic version (1.2 GB) includes:
