The storyline of "The Legend of Ji Gong" primarily revolves around the heroic acts of Ji Gong, who aids those in distress while confronting tyrants and the unkind wealthy. Ji Gong, originally named Li Xiu Yuan, is said to be the reincarnation of an arhat. He took monastic vows at Lingyin Temple at the age of 27, famously disregarding dietary restrictions while adopting a seemingly eccentric manner. Among his notable deeds is healing a prime minister's son and subsequently facing various trials and adventures.
