The newly opened Palace Museum Ceramic Pavilion, after more than four years of renovation, now welcomes visitors at Wuying Hall. The exhibition space has expanded by nearly 60%, increasing from over 400 to more than 1,000 artifacts. The display scope has broadened to include pieces from the late Qing Dynasty through the Republic of China period. The pavilion features five uniquely designed themed exhibition halls, offering an innovative presentation that combines a rich array of artifacts with distinctive display techniques, providing visitors with a fresh and profound experience.

In addition, the official Palace Museum has launched an extensively updated version of the "Palace Ceramic Pavilion" app. Building upon the core concept of the original timeline within the ceramic gallery, the new app employs advanced technological methods to illustrate both the enduring essence and evolving history of Chinese ceramics, bringing the exhibition directly into users’ hands and eyes.

The new timeline feature offers a comprehensive overview of ceramic development across different eras, structured around thematic units that clearly delineate historical progress.

The redesigned user interface draws inspiration from era-specific characteristics through a custom gradient background, creating an immediately engaging visual experience.

The app provides a complete catalog of over 1,000 artifacts, supporting filtering, searching, and收藏 for easy access and in-depth appreciation—facilitating an experience akin to cloud-based viewing.

Enhanced display technologies include exclusive 3D presentation and high-resolution image analysis, allowing users to explore artifacts with unprecedented detail at their fingertips.

Additional features invite users to delve deeper into details, such as size comparisons, colorful knowledge modules, voice-guided annotations, thematic displays, and one-click sharing options—making exploration both rich and interactive.

About the Palace Museum

Founded in 1925, the Palace Museum is a comprehensive national-level institution built around the imperial palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties (Imperial City) and their former imperial collections. It prominently features large-scale palace architecture, ancient artworks, and historical sites related to court culture. Its collection includes the world’s largest and most complete wooden structure palace complex as well as treasures from the Ming and Qing periods. Over time, through national allocations, social acquisitions, and private donations, the museum’s collection has grown significantly to encompass over 1.86 million items spanning calligraphy, paintings, ancient artifacts, courtly relics, books, and archives. In 1961, it was designated as one of China’s first key cultural relic protection units by the State Council. In 1987, UNESCO inscribed it as a World Heritage Site.
