“Learn - Don’t Wait” is an application featuring educational games and video lessons designed for primary school learning. It encompasses tasks related to mathematics, multiplication tables, the alphabet, and engaging reading exercises in Ukrainian, all presented in an interactive format.

As children in primary school are introduced to new concepts, it is essential to maintain their enthusiasm for learning by providing an engaging educational experience that incorporates elements of play rather than simply requiring them to memorize textbooks or multiplication tables. In consideration of children's developmental characteristics and educational challenges, the project “Learn - Don’t Wait” was created by the international organization War Child Holland in partnership with the educational group “Osvitoria” and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The educational content within the application has been developed by some of the best teachers in Ukraine, ensuring alignment with the state curriculum.

The learning process within “Learn - Don’t Wait” is highly engaging. Children can watch video lessons and participate in interesting mini-games after each topic. A structured approach has been designed to facilitate material retention for students. The application features entertaining developmental games that help young learners acquire foundational skills whether in a classroom or through distance learning. Guides Sophia and Andrii provide verbal prompts to assist students as they progress. More complex tasks that may require additional explanations come with video instructions demonstrating solution examples.

Mathematics for 1st Grade 📑

Mathematics is a critical subject. In 1st grade, young learners are introduced to numbers and counting. With fun games, learning math through “Learn - Don’t Wait” becomes both fascinating and enjoyable. The curriculum for 1st grade employs various illustrations, numbers, and puzzles, allowing children to solve addition and subtraction problems while learning to count. Guide Sophia is always available to provide guidance on how to tackle given tasks.

Mathematics for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades 📚

Beginning in 2nd grade, students engage with more complex challenges: learning multiplication tables, introducing division, counting up to one thousand, studying geometric shapes, solving problems and equations, while also familiarizing themselves with concepts of length, mass, and speed. Students consolidate their knowledge at three levels: concrete, graphical, and abstract.

Reading for 1st Grade 📕

Reading is a gradual process that commences with learning letters, sounds, and syllables; starting with the alphabet which forms the foundation of reading and oral speech. The primer serves as a primary resource for first-graders containing examples of letters and words. It’s crucial for children to recognize letters and associate them with their respective sounds before forming words they have encountered in spoken language. By the end of 1st grade, students can read individual sentences and comprehend their meanings.

The “Learn - Don’t Wait” application equips young learners with essential reading skills through engaging tasks that require them to apply previously acquired knowledge. Importantly, the games are designed to be sufficiently stimulating without becoming monotonous quickly.

Reading for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades 📒

In 2nd grade, students are proficient in the alphabet and enhance their understanding of the Ukrainian language by studying its rules. This not only facilitates reading and writing but also aids in articulating thoughts: oral and written communication significantly fosters cognitive development. By 3rd grade, children are introduced to various parts of speech; they learn how to combine these into sentences, investigate texts, and practice speed reading. At this age, many begin to show interest in books. Our application features texts by contemporary Ukrainian authors.

The “Learn - Don’t Wait” application is suitable for both distance learning and self-directed development as well as classroom activities. It can be utilized for educational purposes from anywhere in the world even without a constant internet connection. The app is freely available for download on Google Play.
