“Hayatus Sahaba” is a comprehensive biography of the esteemed companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Authored by Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Kandhalvi (may Allah have mercy on him), who was the son of the renowned founder of Tablighi Jamaat, Maulana Ilyas (may Allah have mercy on him), this work stands out in its scholarly approach to documenting the lives of these significant figures in Islamic history. The book is recognized among notable literature that eloquently narrates the virtues and tribulations faced by the companions of the Prophet.

Prominent Islamic scholar, Allama Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani (may Allah have mercy on him), aptly defined a companion as one who has seen the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) with faith and passed away as a believer in Islam. Saeed ibn Al-Musayyib narrated from Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet said, "I questioned my Lord about the differences among my companions. Allah revealed to me: O Muhammad, your companions are like stars in the sky; whichever you follow will lead you to guidance." This highlights the esteem and significance attributed to each companion.

The “Hayatus Sahaba” text includes numerous incidents from the lives of various companions, illustrating their dedication and contributions to Islamic propagation. Originally composed in Urdu, this significant work was published in 1999 in Arabic by Mu'assasat Al-Risalah Library in Beirut across five volumes. It is characterized by its thorough inclusion of authentic hadiths from reliable sources such as Sahih Sittah, Ibn Hibban, Musnad Ahmad, and other respected biographical texts which are not easily found in other works. Thus, “Hayatus Sahaba” can be regarded as a cornerstone for understanding the lives of the companions.

The text paints a vivid picture of those who supported the Messenger of Allah, sacrificing their comforts for the sake of spreading Islam far and wide.
