This publication embodies the concept of a "living tradition" and attempts to unite divided Ukrainian Orthodox Christians in common prayer.

Project Objectives:
<ul>
 <li>To bring together Ukrainian Orthodox Christians, separated by various ecclesiastical jurisdictions, in a shared prayer for the unity of the Church in Ukraine;</li>
 <li>To revitalize the prayer life of believers, broadening their worldview through exposure to the richness of the Eastern Orthodox prayer tradition, particularly the practices of the Greek Church.</li>
</ul>

The challenges currently faced by Ukrainian Orthodox churches demand prompt action from us, members of the Church. These challenges include a socio-political crisis amid external aggression from a state that identifies as Orthodox while simultaneously attempting to incite inter-denominational conflicts. Additionally, there is a rise in antagonistic sentiments among Ukrainian believers towards one another and a long-standing process of secularization, characterized by a "magical" approach to religion and widespread superstition within society. The division within Ukrainian Orthodoxy persists, despite an increasing yearning among the faithful for Church unity, although many believers are uncertain about how to respond to this desire.

Genuine and fervent prayer from Christians can provide assistance in this endeavor. While immediate results may not manifest, such prayer can lay an important foundation for positive prospects. Christians who pray for unity effectively become united through this practice, transcending ecclesiastical barriers.

This edition does not contain the conventional morning and evening prayers typically found in most prayer books. The prayer life should not be confined to reciting the same set of prayers daily and year after year. Instead, this collection presents forgotten classics—morning, evening, as well as midday and night prayers—selected from the classic prayer book of the Church, known as the Horologion. It also includes prayers from contemporary figures such as St. Silouan of Mount Athos, Archimandrite Sophrony Sakharov, and Father Alexander Men.
