With the blessing and approbation of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, I have taken the liberty to compile this Prayer Book.

Every individual has the right to choose their religion and faith. Considerable generations raised during the communist era were deprived of religious expression—they were taught that God does not exist, and they faced restrictions such as being prohibited from entering churches and temples.

I believe that everyone needs some form of faith—be it Orthodox, or another spiritual path. Alongside communal worship services, individuals can also observe their personal prayer routines.

It is beneficial for our day to begin and end with prayer, through which we dedicate ourselves and our lives to the Savior. Regardless of the obstacles that may arise, we should maintain our morning (immediately after waking) and evening (before sleep) prayer routines.

The church father Theophan the Recluse emphasizes: "Because of our weakness, to prevent laziness on one hand and to keep our zeal within measure on the other." He continues: "Even the greatest prayer warriors observed a prayer rule. They would start their prayers with specific prayers, and if during that time a spontaneous prayer arose, they would abandon the formal prayers to pray with it. If they did so, how much more should we follow their example? Without established prayers, we might not know how to pray. It is thanks to them that we are able to pray."

In our busy daily lives, it is not always possible to recite all prayers in their entirety. Therefore, it is advisable to consult your spiritual father for recommendations on specific prayers for particularly stressful days and to receive guidance on prayers aligned with your life circumstances and needs.
