Overview

This application allows users to view the printed image of the Hokkaido Shimbun morning edition and regional editions on their smartphones. Users can access both the current day’s edition and images from the previous seven days.

Pricing

While the app is free to download, users must subscribe to either the "Hokkaido Shimbun Digital - Paper Course" or the "Viewer Course" to access its features. For more details, please refer to the subscription guide.

• The app updates the current day's printed image around 4 AM each morning.
• A push notification alerting users of the update is sent around 7 AM.
• Users can view the current day and images from up to seven days prior.
• The app allows for zooming in on small text for better readability.
• Printed data can be saved for offline viewing, even without network connectivity.
• A clipping function enables users to bookmark up to 100 favorite articles.

Application Functionality

• Tapping the icon launches the app.
• After launching, users can select the date and region (morning edition, central Hokkaido, southern Hokkaido, northern Hokkaido, eastern Hokkaido, special supplement) to display the corresponding printed image.
• The printed image can be zoomed in four steps with a double-tap; a further double-tap returns it to full-screen. Pinch gestures are also supported for zooming in and out.
• Navigating between pages can be achieved by tapping the “<” and “>” buttons that appear at the bottom of the screen or by flicking (swiping) on the page.
• The button at the bottom right opens a list of available printed images, allowing users to switch between different editions easily.
• From the electronic newspaper list screen, users can save printed images by date and region, with a maximum of seven versions stored for offline viewing capability.

• Some articles, photos, and advertisements may not be included in the app.
• The app will not be updated on days when the newspaper is not published.
