UpdateStar 2.0 provides software updates and software ratings

March 26, 2008 - Following on from the fast and furious start of the freeware project UpdateStar at the end of last year, the company exono from Berlin, Germany has come up with the new version 2.0. Version 2.0 comes with improved software and software version recognition. Many details including the user interface have also been adapted in accordance with the wishes of many users. UpdateStar runs entirely in the background and informs users when new updates are available for their programs. Thus a user's PC software is kept constantly up-to-date. Users can download UpdateStar free of charge and in doing so make their software lives substantially easier in the future.

Right now, users of UpdateStar are monitoring the up-to-date status of around 2 million installed programs daily. More than 200,000 users joined up in the first quarter of 2008, making UpdateStar, with its comprehensive software database, the main source of up-to-date software information for many users.
The extensive UpdateStar product database knows every software program installed on the machine and provides the appropriate program information. Users can individually configure UpdateStar and select the programs they would like to receive update information on. With help from the users themselves, the UpdateStar team updates the database daily and constantly optimizes the quality of the results generated.

Your opinion counts: users submit software ratings

In the new version, users can anonymously rate their installed software from within the UpdateStar program. The average rating of a software program is now included with all other program information delivered to all users by UpdateStar.
