Welcome to the Getting Started Guide for new users of UpdateStar, the (upcoming) leading information service to update your personal software. This guide is intended for people who want to seriously use UpdateStar on a daily basis to stay up-to-date with their software. To reduce their PCs vulnerability level and to make sure to use the latest features and versions of their favorable software.

It takes only three steps to set up UpdateStar

Getting started with UpdateStar is straight-forward and a five minute investment. But you will profit from the service UpdateStar provides every day in your future software life. And it's free!

Step 1: Download, install and launch UpdateStar

Please visit our download page to download the installation file.

Afterwards follow the installation wizard instructions and finish the installation on your PC.

Now you can launch UpdateStar for the first time on your computer, for example by double-clicking on the UpdateStar icon on your desktop.

Step 2: First scan for updates and news

When UpdateStar launches the "Start Page" appears, which will give you an overview on the status of your installed software. Now you can begin with your first scan for available updates for all of your programs by clicking on the "Update Programs" icon in the menu. Alternatively you can use the "Search for updates" button in the center of the "Start page".

The scan for updates will finish after a short while and the scan results will be shown. You may start to investigate and download the available updates shown by clicking on the shown program names or switching the view to "Program List" in the menu.

Step 3: Configure programs and settings

You can switch to the "Program List" view by clicking on the appropriate button in the menu ribbon bar.

In the program list you can individually select which programs UpdateStar should track for you. By default all programs are checked. You will receive update alerts for the checked programs

The scanning process is automated by default on a daily basis. You may change this schedule and some options in the UpdateStar settings.

That's it. You are now set and ready to get update information always in-time thanks to UpdateStar. It will run in the background and let you know, when an update for one of your programs is available. And your software life just has become a whole lot easier.

Thank you for using UpdateStar!
